Good news for Globe subscribers using Nokia mobile phones and smartphones! Buying premium apps, games, and other fun content from the Nokia Store is made much easier because the price of each download will now be charged to your prepaid load account or your postpaid phone bill. All you have to do is visit store.nokia.mobi from your phone’s browser, and you will be prompted to download the Nokia Store application. Once registered, you can start downloading great content and applications for a wide range of Nokia devices from mobile phones.

In the Philippines, some of the most popular applications downloaded for 2011 were Facebook Chat, an application that allows you to chat with your Facebook friends on your phone. Skype was another popular download, as it allows you to call or text family and friends abroad for free. As for games, you might want to try out AdventureOfTed, an exciting game that will make you jump, run and kick the enemies to bring Ted safely home.

To date, Nokia Store is seeing strong growth with more than 11 million global downloads per day. This milestone is a result of the increased demand for mobile content and the growing number of new apps and partner developers, complemented by new consumers signing up for Nokia Store. Try it out today!

How many dual SIM phones can a person really need? Today, Nokia unveils yet another dual SIM device – the fourth in the last six or so months (see the Nokia 101, Nokia C-200, and Nokia 500). The latest addition to their dual SIM offerings is the Nokia Asha 200, a colorful device with a full QWERTY keyboard and the capacity to manage up to five SIM cards. I don’t know why anyone would want to keep that many SIM cards but nonetheless, changing from one SIM to the other is made easy with Nokia’s Easy Swap feature, which allows the user to change SIM cards without switching off the phone or removing the battery. Other features include a dedicated key for email access, chat services through Nokia Messaging, and pre-installed Nokia’s Communities application for one-click sign-in to multiple social networks.

The Asha 200 comes in a range of vibrant colors like Pearl White, Pink, Aqua, and Graphite. Now available in Nokia stores nationwide for an SRP of PhP3,500.

When I first saw the Nokia N9 at a friend’s facebook wall, I just knew I had to review it. Love at first sight — I must say next to iPhone. When the review unit was delivered to the house I was excited to use it but found out I needed a microsim. Dropping by Globe Telecom, the sales clerk was a bit stunned when I requested for a microsim for a Nokia phone. I told her it does need a microsim. I showed the Nokia N9 and they were amazed at its gorgeous looks.

The Nokia N9 is beautiful and simple.

It is Nokia’s first phone with MeeGo. It features a curved 3.9-inch AMOLED display with Gorilla Glass. The N9 is unique as it doesn’t have any buttons on the front, so all navigation is handled with virtual buttons and gestures in MeeGo.

The Nokia N9 can be operated with a single thumb by merely swiping to switch between applications. I usually don’t read manuals so I just figured it out on my own.

I love the large display for my visually challenged eyesight. Powered with Meego OS the operating system, N9 is the online Nokia Phone would run in Meego since the company would migrate to Windows Phone 7 OS.

Swiping repeatedly left or right and tapping the status bar on top allows one to set profiles to silent, beep, or ringing. One can also adjust the volume, select connections and change yonline status. Once inside an app, “sliding your finger from any edge across the screen brings you back to whichever of the three views you started from. There’s a also a setting that lets you swipe down to close an app, but it’s turned off by default. ”

A unique feature is the ability to upload multiple photos in Facebook, something I look for when sharing event photos.

I believe this is the first Nokia that can compete with the iPhone. And Nokia lovers will surely be excited to own this Nokia N9 with its gorgeous hardware and brilliant software.

Just how into the QWERTY lifestyle are you? This is your chance to share to the world how the QWERTY revolution changed your mobile life with Nokia’s “Why do you QWERTY!” promo.

The contest is open to all QWERTY phone users. All you have to do is write a 200-word essay on the topic: “How using a QWERTY phone changed my mobile life for the better.” Your essay should describe your positive experiences and interesting anecdotes about using your QWERTY phone.

Your essay should be accompanied by a photo in JPEG format of yourself and your QWERTY phone. Send your entry via email to nokiaqwertypromo@ovi.com.

Make sure to put some pizzazz to your essay and photo as entries will be judged according to: Uniqueness (40%); Relevance (30%); and Visual Quality of Photo (30%).

Four entries with the most interesting stories and the most creative photos will win a new Nokia QWERTY phone each: a Nokia Asha 200 for the 3rd prize; a Nokia Asha 303 for the 2nd prize; a pair of Nokia Asha 200 for the 1st prize; and a pair of Nokia Asha 303 for the grand prize.

The Nokia Asha 303 is a touch screen device with a full physical QWERTY keypad. This stylish and slim device has lots of processing power that gives a rich experience of the internet and social networking applications. It lets you stay connected to your loved ones and lets you have fun with great apps and its music player.

The Nokia Asha 200 is ideal for young, urban consumers who find QWERTY phones aspirational and wish to connect to their social networks, but are also price conscious. It is suited for their need to send messages quickly and listening to music, and most importantly gives control over costs with the Easy Swap function.

Deadline of submission of entries is on December 30, 2011.

Nokia just released four new Symbian handsets guaranteed to bring Filipinos a new mobile experience – the smartphones Nokia 700 and 701 running on Symbian Belle; the entry-level Nokia 500, and the company’s most affordable dual SIM phone to date, the Nokia 101.

Those who want a smartphone at a price they can afford will be pleased to know that the Nokia 700 and 701 are attractively priced at PhP14,490 and PhP15,990, respectively. Both devices run on Symbian Belle, which uses the single-tap NFC technology, Nokia’s most personal user interface. NFC provides a good web browsing experience and allows content to be shared between two phones. NFC also allows two Nokia smartphones to share data using NFC-enabled accessories like Bluetooth headphones.

The Nokia 700 boasts of being the world’s most compact touchscreen monoblock device, with a with 1 Ghz processor, 3.2-inch AMOLED screen ClearBlack display, 2GB of internal memory, HD video capture and a 5 megapixel full focus camera with LED flash. At the same time, it’s also Nokia’s most eco-friendly smartphone, as it is made of environment-friendly materials and a long battery life.

The Nokia 500 is powered by a fast processor, 5-megapixel camera, and preloaded with Ovi maps, Lonely Planet, and other useful apps. Running on Symbian Anna, browsing and multitasking are a breeze thanks to its intuitive browser and 1Ghz processor. You can easily switch between apps without so much as slowing down your phone. It retails for PhP9,290.

Last but certainly not the least is Nokia’s fifth dual SIM phone and the most affordable at that. The SIM manager allows the user to store the settings of up to five SIM cards on the phone, and to switch between SIMs without any difficulty. Other features include an FM radio, integrated MP3 player, and support for up to 6 GB microSD memory cards. All this for a mere P1,490.

Get any of these devices from a Nokia dealer near you.

Nokia’s highly anticipated MeeGo smartphone has finally been announced, and it sure is a thing of beauty. It’s called the Nokia N9, a touchscreen device with a gorgeous, highly-responsive 3.9″ AMOLED screen that takes you to the home view with a single swipe. Nokia’s innovative new navigation allows you fast access to the most important thing you do on a smartphone – using applications, accessing social networks, and multitasking. When using an app, all you have to do is swipe at the edge of the display, and you’re back in the home screen.

The Nokia N9 also has the latest in camera, navigation, and audio technology. Its equipped with an 8-megapixel Carl Zeiss wide-angle lens with autofocus sensor, allowing you to capture HD-quality videos and sharp pictures in low-light conditions, making the N9 one of the best camera phones in existence. Motorists will be delighted to know that the N9 also has turn-by-turn drive and walk navigation in the new dedicated Drive App. While waiting, you can watch videos in true 16:9 widescreen format, and enjoy superior sound without earphones, thanks to its Dolby® Digital Plus decoding and Dolby Headphone post-processing technology. Sharing images and videos is also made easier because of its Near Field Communication, a technology that allows users to share media between devices simply by touching them together.

The Nokia N9 comes in black, magenta, and cyan, and 16GB and 64GB storage options. Expect it to hit stores later this year! Meanwhile, you can learn more about this sleek device at swipe.nokia.com.

Nokia just released another batch of affordable mobile phones that feature a superior webs, maps, and messaging experience. The Nokia C2-02, C2-03, and C2-06 give users the best of both worlds – a touchscreen, a slideout keypad, and dual or single SIM options.

The C2-03 is the third dual-SIM phone from Nokia, with the same convenient features as the X1-01 and the C2-00. This includes the ability to personalize up to five SIM cards with a dedicated look, as well as an Easy Swap feature that allows the user to change SIM cards without having to remove the battery or switch the phone off.

The Nokia C2-02 is the single-SIM sister of the C2-03 and is equipped with similar features, like a wide range of IM providers and push messaging options.

Meanwhile, the Nokia C2-06 comes in a variety of exciting colors with a smooth, clean finish.

All three phones are equipped with the new Nokia Maps for Series 4, where local places of interest are pre-loaded onto the phone. You can view maps and plan your route even when your phone is offline, which saves you the cost of downloading it from your mobile network. Another great feature of the phone is the Nokia Browser’s data compression technology, which speeds up page downloads, thus keeping surfing costs low. The browser opens with a localized start page that gives users access to relevant content, and tabs so users can visit favorite or previously viewed information. Besides these features, the three phones also have a media player, FM radio, and memory support that can be expanded to 32GB.

Estimated retail prices of the C2-02 and -03 are $105, while the Nokia C2-06 costs $112. Expect to see these at a Nokia dealer near you in the third quarter.

In the Philippines, it’s quite common for people to have two (sometimes three) numbers, one for each major telecom network. I myself have two numbers, and I admit that it’s a bit of a hassle having to check two phones for any messages or missed calls. If you use both your numbers actively and can’t be bothered lugging around two devices at once, dual-SIM phone (a phone that can carry two different SIM cards) might be a practical investment. You might want to pop inside a Nokia store near you, because the company just launched two affordable dual-SIM units designed to provide users with a convenient and engaging mobile phone experience. These two phones are the Nokia X1-01 and the Nokia C2-00. The two devices are said to have better battery life and more memory than any other dual-SIM device out there. Both phones also remember details of up to five different SIM cards, and allow you to customize each card with a dedicated name, SMS, and call settings.

The Nokia X1-01 eliminates the confusion of using two SIM cards by allowing you to give each card its own ringtone, music signature, and logo. It’s also one of the few dual SIM phones that provide you with a unique musical experience. The device can support up to 16GB of music, giving you thousands of mp3s to listen to. You can also create playlists and play your favorite tunes on a loud and clear speaker. The X-01 boasts of dedicated keys for switching tracks and a battery that lasts for up to 36 hours of continuous music playback. Get the X-01 in Dark Grey, Red, Ocean Blue, and Orange.

Have three or more SIM cards on you? The Nokia C2-00 is the first dual SIM device that allows you to change SIM cards without turning off your phone or removing the battery. Simply open the SIM door at the side of the device and swap your SIM cards. That’s it! The Nokia C2-00 also allows you to browse the Internet, check your email, and enjoy instant messaging features with the other SIM card. And with 32 GB of on-board memory, the C2-00 allows you to store thousands of music files, videos, and photos. The Nokia C2-00 is available in colors Dynamic Grey, Jet Black, Magenta, and Snow White.

The Nokia X1-01 will be sold at an SRP of P1,990 while the Nokia C2-00 has an SRP of P2,990. Watch out for these phones at your nearest Nokia store.

Nokia‘s taking the next logical step in finding global talent by launching their new Invent with Nokia program. More and more people are connecting with each other online, and with that comes an ever-growing pool of ideas. Nokia hopes to tap the limitless potential of its customers by inviting them to sign up with Invent with Nokia, a movement that allows you, the consumer, to help create technology’s next big thing.

How does it work? All you have to do is register an account at the program’s website, www.inventwithnokia.com. You can then submit an idea for a new device, feature, or service to the industry giant, who will then send it over to their crack R&D team for evaluation. If your idea shows potential, Nokia will file a patent for it crediting you as its inventor! As an added bonus, Nokia will be generously paying every customer whose idea gets patented, with additional perks if the idea develops into something special.

Take note that any information you send about your innovation must not be shared with anyone else for at least four months. This protects both you and the company by making sure no one tries to rip off your idea. Nokia understands the value of ideas – its own team of developers work day and night to come up with exciting new products for consumers – so the company will do its best to defend customers’ proprietary rights for their ideas.

If you think you’ve got an innovation that can revolutionize the way people all over the world connect with each other, head on over to Invent with Nokia and find out how you can make it a reality!
